Adult Mental Health First Aid Training Fall 24

Mental Health First Aid is an early intervention public education program. It teaches adults how to recognize the signs and symptoms that suggest a potential mental health challenge, how to listen nonjudgmentally, give reassurance and provide resources to those experiencing a mental health challenge

Time & Location

Corolla, 1140 Village Lane, Corolla, NC 27927, USA

About the event

10/10/24-Get Certified!

Most of us would know how to help if we saw someone having a heart attack — we’d start CPR, or at the very least call 911. But too few of us would know how to respond if we saw someone having a panic attack or if we were concerned that a friend or coworker might be showing signs of alcohol use disorder.

Mental Health First Aid takes the fear and hesitation out of starting these conversations by improving understanding and providing an action plan that teaches people to safely and responsibly identify and address a potential mental health or substance use challenge.

Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based, early-intervention course that teaches participants about mental health and substance use challenges.  Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) USA has trained more than 3 million people across the country to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges.

The course is delivered in two parts

1.  a two hour self paced online portion (must be completed prior to the in-person training)

2.  a 5 hour in person  instructor led training.

At Our EPIC Project our goal is to create opportunities to reduce stigma associated with mental health challenges, create conversations and look out for each.  Having folks become certfied in Mental Health First Aid is a great way to achieve our these goals.
