Strengthen Mental Health Initiatives
Living and working at the beach is a dream for many. The truth is- that living and working in these communities come with a host of issues that can impact mental health. Seasonality can be manic, anxiety and stress dominate the high season, depression and isolation in the low season, substance issues and lack of mental health resources are problems that many beach communities face.
We want to empower the folks in our community to look out for each other and provide resources that help us do just that. Community based initiatives including providing training programs, awareness and education, are just a start. Our hope is to develop an ongoing program that supports these efforts and builds upon them to create a foundation for better mental health.
Initially, we would like to help combat these issues through participation in community based programs, like Mental Health First Aid.
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) USA has trained more than 3 million people across the country to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges
The following opportunities can teach you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges .
You’ll build skills and confidence you need to reach out and provide initial support to those who are struggling. You’ll also learn how to help connect them to appropriate support.
